Frank Harrison Herring, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, from causes related to Alzheimer’s.
He was born February 19, 1930, in rural Hannibal, son of Richard H. and Catherine J. (Johnson) Herring.
In 1948, he married Betty (Stout), who died in 1973.
On February 28, 1974, in Warrensburg, he married Juanita C. (Brown).
Mr. Herring served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1971, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked in Civil Service from which he retired.
Frank was a Mason and an active member of the Shriners. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and was an avid reader, especially of medical journals. He genuinely cared about people and always had a smile.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Herring, of Sedalia; three children, Steve Herring (Cathy), of Ohio, Teresa Kelly (Mike), of Texas, and Karen Skidmore (Jimmy), of Greenwood, MO; four step-children, Lee Youngblood (Claudia), of Sedalia, Lynda Pottorff (Duke), of Ionia, MO, Ranae Wittenburg (Bill), of Vancouver, WA, and Mike Youngblood (Cleo), of St. Louis; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Herndon; and a step-brother, Rich Herring.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; two granddaughters; and three sisters, Betty, Kathy and Elizabeth.
Frank requested no funeral service.
Inurnment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home of Warrensburg, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home.
