Gary L. Cooper, 69, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

He was born October 16, 1943, in Ames, IA, son of Kenneth Leo and Doris Deo Cooper. On September 29, 1962, in Glendale, CA, he married Maudie M. Smith, who died November 25, 1996. On June 28, 1997, in Sedalia, he married Bina Higgins Harvey, who survives of the home.

Gary retired from Starline Brass. He enjoyed fishing, camping and making scenic pictures on his computer. He loved his dogs, Chip and Wolf.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam, earning the rank of E3.

In addition to his wife, Bina, surviving are two sons, Kevin L. Cooper (Leslie), of Colorado Springs, CO, and Steve L. Cooper (Heather), of Sedalia; a daughter, Lisa D. Goodwin (Matt), of Sedalia; three stepsons, Rick Harvey (Karla), of La Monte, Steve Harvey (Jacklin), of La Monte, and Troy Harvey (Kim), of Warrensburg; seven grandchildren, Chris, Brian, Sara, Kenny, Tyler, Anthony and Andrew; six step-grandchildren, Nikki, Dakota, Stephanie, Bryan, Allison and Braxton; three great-grandchildren, Asher, Deirdre and Lucas; and two brothers, Ron Cooper, of Warsaw, and John Cooper, of Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to his parents and wife, Maudie, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl W. “Billy” Cooper; a grandson, Kevin L. Cooper Jr.; and a brother, Michael Cooper.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating.

Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
