Gary Lloyd Wasson, 76, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
He was born January 12, 1942, in Sedalia, son of Lloyd Ragean and Helen Lucille (Campbell) Wasson, who preceded him in death.
On December 3, 1961, at East Sedalia Baptist Church in Sedalia, he married Lura Ann (Fowler), who preceded him in death on July 28, 2017.
As a young adult, Gary worked for Fingland Glass and Sedalia Monument. He then worked for Coca-Cola for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union.
Gary was a Boy Scout leader and received the Silver Beaver award in 2001, the highest honor given to leaders. He also served on the District Scout Committee.
Gary was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.
He was a member of Parkview Christian Church and had served as a deacon.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering with things.
Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Masters (Dwayne), of Sedalia; a son, Stephen Wasson (Jo), of Belton, TX; two granddaughters, Haley Wasson Zaruba (Matt), and Chelsey Wasson; two great-granddaughters, Carson and Parker Jo Zaruba; a brother, Joe Wasson (Cindy) , of Sedalia; and a sister, Linda Wasson, of Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Casket bearers will be Aric Wasson, Casey Wasson, Rick Muessig, Richard Stewart, Robert Hartman and Dale Guerrini.
Honorary bearers will be Mike and Mary Matchael.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Parkview Christian Church or Show-Me Christian Youth Home.
