Gayle Hoveland, 45, of Knob Noster, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City.
She was born August 5, 1971, in Kailua, HI, daughter of Galen “Smitty” Smitten and Doris (Weller) Smitten.
Gayle was a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts.
She had a heart for animals, especially armadillos, and expressed that love as former owner and operator of Crane Mountain Critter Ranch, a kennel for pets. She also enjoyed reading and wearing flip flops.
Gayle recently worked at Stars and Strikes Bowling Center at Whiteman Air Force Base. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where she made many friends in recent years.
Surviving are her mother, Doris Smitten, of Sedalia; a daughter, Riley Hoveland, of Big Fork, MT; and two siblings, Marion Park (Rodney), of Hawaii, and Mark Davis (Ronda), of Knob Noster.
She was preceded in death by her father.
No services are planned at this time.
