George Steve Burns, 79, of Florence, passed away peacefully Friday, April 20, 2018, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Cincinnati, OH, son of Steve and Jane Burns.
In 1997, he married Ethel Arnold and acquired the large family he always wanted: four boys, Delbert (deceased), David, Darran and Daniel Scott Arnold; one girl, Gina Robinson; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
After 62 years of searching, Steve was reunited with his brother, Jimmy, just last month. Jimmy has two daughters, Norma and Bernise, both from California. Jimmy and Norma flew out to see Steve for three days, but shared phone calls each day after that. Jimmy brought great comfort to his brother with playing guitar and singing old songs. Steve considered his life complete after reuniting with his brother.
Steve served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962. He loved God, his family, his dog Smokey, and football, especially talking football with Darran and Jake.
He was truly a good man and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In keeping with Steve’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
