George Wayne Estes, 80, of Concordia, MO, died Friday, April 27, 2018 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
George was born February 3, 1938, in Sedalia, MO, son of the late Marion Leland and Anna Pauline (Smith) Estes. In 1956 in Ernestville, MO, he married Rose Anne Lange, who preceded him in death.
George was a United States Marine Veteran. He was a welder and worked mainly in fabrication most of his life. He welded at the Truman Dam and missile silos in the area. He loved hunting, fishing, his dog “BJ” and wearing his favorite black boots to go dancing to country music. He enjoyed eating ice cream cones from Cree Mee Freeze, breakfast from Hardees and the catfish from Apple BBQ. His favorite place to eat was Lemaire’s in Sedalia. He was a charmer with the ladies.
Survivors include 3 children: Terry Estes of Warrensburg, Georgia Heimsoth and husband Timothy “Tee” & Brenda Lee Hemme, and husband, Kevin of Concordia, MO; two sisters, Jerry Garrigus & Sherry Simmons of Sedalia, MO; 11 grandchildren, Lena, Alicia, Marla, Jacob, Angela, Travis, Logan, Maci, Trisha, Misty, Cass and 18 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles “Corky” Estes, Bobby Estes, a sister Norma Baker, two infant twin sisters and a great grandson, Keatyn Hemme.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with the Rev. Russell Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, also at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Travis Estes, Logan Estes, Jacob Heimsoth, Cass Hemme, Tim Estes, Ralph Garrigus and Kenny Neal.
