Geraldine “Jerry” Drenon, 92, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born May 13, 1922, in Fairfield, MO, daughter of Albert and Cora Williams Cunningham. On December 3, 1944, in Warsaw, she married Russell K. Drenon, who survives.
Mrs. Drenon was the office manager of her husband’s optometry practice. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of W.M.U. She was also a member of the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, crocheting afghans and will be remembered as a wonderful mom and grandma.
In addition to her husband of 69 years, survivors include four children: Diana Johnson (Jim), of League City, TX, Russell K. Drenon Jr. (Janet), of Jefferson City, MO, David Drenon (Barbara), of Springfield, MO, and Dr. John Drenon (Tracey), of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren: Julie, Jeff, Jenna, Amanda, Andrea, Lauren, Emily, Tyler, Kyle, Mary and John Jr.; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Floyd, Harry, Bill and Art; and two sisters, Mabel and Marie.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Johnson, Tyler Drenon, Kyle Drenon, John Drenon Jr., Kelton Baker and Kennon Baker.
Private burial will be Monday in Highland Sacred Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at First Baptist Church.
