Gladys Louise Hill

Gladys Louise Hill, 72, of Hughesville, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at her home.

She was born January 31, 1952, in Tuscumbia, a daughter of the late Luther and Margaret (Blankenship) McNeal. On October 4, 1968, she married William Hill, who preceded her in death on August 4, 2007.

Gladys grew up in the Stover and Sedalia areas. She was a homemaker. She was artistic and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and ceramics. Gladys also enjoyed collecting ceramic chickens.

People always knew where she stood with Gladys, and she will be remembered for her good heart.

Survivors include six children, William Hill (Amanda), of Hughesville, Charles Hill (Katie), of Sedalia, Fred Hill (Jennifer), of Hughesville, Larry Hill (Amanda), of Sedalia, David Hill (Ashley), of Knob Noster and Sabrina Hursman (Robert), of Houstonia; a sister, Frances Albers (Steve), of Sedalia; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Wanda Aldrich, Jeanne Curry, James McNeal, Charles McNeal, Margaret Ann Jones, and Anna James.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. John Dumsday officiating.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm until service time.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
