In Loving Memory…

Glenn Franklin McMullin, 80, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, at North Village Park in Moberly.

He was born June 11, 1933, in Sedalia, MO, son of Louis Franklin and Nina (Retherford) McMullin. In June 1956, in Sedalia, he was married to Madeline Lester, who preceded him in death on January 31, 2013.

A lifelong resident of Pettis County, he graduated from the Lamine Country School and Smithton High School.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO.

He was a farmer and also had his own logging business for many years. He excelled in wood crafts and displayed them at craft shows.

He was very intrigued with history and learning about the ways of life many years ago compared to life today.

He served in the Army for three years during the Korean Conflict.

He was a country music fan and also loved the old time gospel songs. At a young age he became an accomplished guitar player.

He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, craft shows and sharing the nature on his farm with family and friends. He hosted an annual fish fry for his family, neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed “running in to town for a cold Pepsi and a sandwich.”

Surviving are two sons, Gregory McMullin (Helen), of Palmyra, VA, and Jeffrey McMullin, of Haysville, KS; two daughters, Lori Thomas (John), of Olathe, KS, and Carla Hertel, of Sedalia, MO; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne McMullin, Lyle McMullin and Daryle McMullin; and a sister, Delores Cantwell, all of Sedalia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Potter family cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Wayne McMullin, Lyle McMullin, Donald McMullin, Daniel McMullin, Forest Allen, Carl Holman and Charles Steele.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill and Mary Lou Paxton.
