Goldie Jones

April 28, 1944 — September 8, 2024

Goldie Mae Jones, born on April 28, 1944, in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest child of Arthur and Maude (Thomas) Brodersen.

Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Duane and Tom Brodersen, and her sisters Becky Ann Brodersen and Linda Fry.

Goldie graduated from Otterville High School and married Charles Lee Jones on August 31, 1963, at the First Baptist Church of Otterville. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degree in teaching from Central Missouri State University. She taught grades kindergarten through college, but spent most of her career teaching 4th grade in the Blue Springs School District. She retired from teaching after 25 years in May of 2000.

Besides being a dedicated educator, Goldie was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She found joy in caring for others and her love and support of her family was endless. One of her greatest pleasures was taking care of her grandchildren. She spent countless hours babysitting, reading, driving, tutoring, feeding, entertaining, watching performances, and comforting her grandchildren. She had a special bond with each of them and her positive influence will forever impact their lives.

Goldie also enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time on the porch, going for drives, and participating in girls’ trips and cousins’ weekends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit and The Missouri Retired Teachers Association.

Charles survives her at their home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Tim Kirkpatrick, and their children Jillian, Karadan, and Jonathan, and her son Paul Jones and his son Jacob.
