Harold G. Brown, 97, of Ionia, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Windsor Healthcare and Rehab in Windsor.
He was born March 23, 1918, in Iowa City, IA, son of George L. Brown and Mamie Chalupa Brown. On September 28, 1940, in Iowa, he married Alice June Potter, who died February 2, 2012.
Mr. Brown was a farmer. He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics and gardening.
Surviving are four children: Beverly Hoard and husband Harold, of Sedalia, Larry Brown and wife Mildred, of Sedalia, Lynn Brown and wife Cheryl, of Calhoun, and Danny Brown and wife Kathleen, of Windsor; 13 grandchildren: Roy, Rod, Renaie, Jon (Miriam), Mary, Karen (Derick), Susan (Harden), Stephanie (Justin), Justin (Lisa), Jennifer (Eric), Jeffrey (Bethany), Christina (Mike), and Jeffrey; and 16 great-grandchildren: Jake, Cheyenne, Monisha, Tristan, Hayden, Kayla, Emmalee, Hudson, Jacob, Jubilee, Joy, Jackson, Jocelyn, Eva, Lily and Abigail.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Brown.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 17, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Elvis Durrill officiating.
Casket bearers will be Roy Hoard, Rod Hoard, Justin Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Eric Dier and Jon Brown.
Honorary bearers will be Jeffrey McKeehan and Mike Friedli.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
