Hazel A. Shivers

Hazel Alice Shivers, 95, of Sedalia, formerly of Salem, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.

She was born July 22, 1922, in Osage Beach, daughter of George and Grace (Mansfield) McDowell.

In October 1950, she was married to Ezra Shivers, who preceded her in death.

Before marriage, Hazel taught school. She then became a housewife. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and did a lot of volunteer work in the community. She raised and shared African Violets, and enjoyed gardening, winning many blue ribbons at the county fair for her work. She also enjoyed hand work, especially crocheting.

Surviving are two nephews and two nieces, Russell Lucas (Vickie), of Edmundson, MO, Linda Intelmann, of Sedalia, James Lucas (Valorie), of Grand Junction, CO, and Glenda Muschany (J.D.), of Lebanon; several great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Jim Shivers; cousins; and an abundance of friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd McDowell; a sister, Kathleen Lucas; and a niece, Jan Patrick.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Freedom Cemetery near Camdenton, with the Bro. Charlie Rose officiating.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
