Helen Louise O’Brien Cramer, 98, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at E.W. Thompson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born January 19, 1923, in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Crum) O’Brien. In 1941, she married Clifford Hicks, who passed away March 26, 1946. In 1948, she married George F. Cramer, who passed away September 26, 1956. In 1966, she met her future long-time companion, Clyde E. Crabtree, and they remained together until his passing August 11, 2005.
She was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. She waitressed for 43 years at Bothwell Hotel and then was a hostess for 20 years at the Sedalia Country Club.
Helen loved celebrating Christmas and being around children. She was feisty, had an Irish temper and was a good judge of character. She will be remembered for always seeing the good in people.
She is survived by three children, Sandra Johnson, of Santa Fe, TX, Jack Cramer (Patricia), of Battlefield, and Jimmy Cramer (Cindy), of Sedalia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husbands and companion, she was preceded in death by siblings, Cecil O’Brien, Chuck O’Brien and Mildred O’Brien; and two grandchildren, George Lee Cramer and Johnny Tichenor.
Funeral service will be noon, Monday, June 14, 2021at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smith officiating.
Casket bearers will be Jason Cramer, Joshua Cramer, Donnie Yokley, Brett Wilson, Matt Ross and Mike Green. Honorary casket bearers will be Loy Holman, Dennis Hagen and Jaiden Cooper.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
