Herman Ray Norton, 90, of Sedalia, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born March 14, 1927, in Sedalia, son of Elmer A. Norton and Eva Rebecca Bradley Norton.
Mr. Norton served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a truck driver, hauling grain. He enjoyed gardening, playing pool and walking at Walmart, and will be remembered for his love of teasing people. He was the top volunteer at the Children’s Therapy Center in 1993.
Surviving are four children, Vickie Norton (Bob), of Sedalia, Charles Norton, of North Carolina, Jennie Jacobs (Al), of Michigan, and Carol Jackson (Rick), of Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; three sisters, Bertha, Lenora and Opal; and four brothers, Gordon, Melvin, Everett and Harold.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 20, at Hopewell Cemetery, with Renae Watt officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Saving Sight in Columbia or the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
