Hilda E. Middleton

Hilda Eileen Middleton, 93, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at her home.

She was born June 17, 1920, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughter of Zack Thomas and Elva Ellen Martin Pribble. On February 14, 1938, in Hermitage, Missouri, she married Richard Francis Middleton, who preceded her in death on August 17, 1997.

Mrs. Middleton enjoyed quilting, making crafts, playing cards, reading and cooking, but spending time with her family brought her the most joy. She had been involved in the PTA, 4-H and Extension Clubs, and was a scout leader. She had worked for Town and Country Shoes and Interstate Studios. Hilda was a member of Parkview Christian Church.

Surviving are six children: Almeda J. Menefee (Tony), of Branson, Alice A. Morrison (John), of Sedalia, Richard C. Middleton (Carol), of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Monica J. Paull, of Sedalia, Lynn Middleton (Rita), of Sedalia, and Rowena J. Nickell (Dennis), of Smithton; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She considered the five generations of her family quite an accomplishment.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Paull.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rodney Brown and the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS), in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
