In Loving Memory…
Ida Lorraine (Hampton) Walter, 97, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at her home. She was born at home on a farm southwest of Green Ridge, MO on August 17, 1923, a daughter of Grover and Virgie Hampton.
In 1947 she married Paul Walter who preceded her in death on February 3, 1981. She was retired from the food service business, having co-owned with her deceased husband many area restaurants, including the Pacific Café. She was an avid reader, quilter, traveler in the United States and Europe (with her sister-in-law Clara Hampton) and the best baker of apple, peach-raspberry and blackberry cobblers.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home, Sedalia, MO. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. The funeral home requires social distancing and face coverings. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter Paula Walter of Sedalia, MO; and three sons, Michael Walter (Annerose) of Vienna, Austria, Robert Walter of Columbia, MO and William Walter of Sedalia, MO – all of whom were loved as if they were only children. She was predeceased by an adult son, Paul Walter, Jr. and an infant son, Gregory Walter. Although she was the last surviving of six siblings (Orland Hampton, Frances Weathers, Dorothy Brownfield, Erma Lee Campbell and Ruth Ann Muschany), she is survived by many nieces and nephews, one cousin, Elwood Mather and two sisters-in-law, Minnie Beemer and Ann Walter. Also surviving are three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
