Ina Joe Pace, age 99, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday evening, August 29, 2020, at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park.
She was born March 3, 1921, in Corinth, MS, daughter of John Roy and Willie Joe (Alexander) White. Ina was primarily raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Frances Alexander, at 123 Pharr Street in Selmer, TN.
After graduating high school, Ina attended business college in Jackson, TN. When World War II broke out, she was recruited by Western Union to travel around re-opening their offices to help with the war effort. While working in Tullahoma, TN, she met Clement William Pace who was serving in the Army Air Corps. In 1943, in Red Bank, NJ, she and Clement were married. They were married 62 years before his passing in 2005.
They spent most of their adult life in New Jersey where she worked in civil service as an administrative assistant at Ft. Monmouth Army Base, retiring after 30 years.
Ina was a member of First Baptist Church of Red Bank, NJ and Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing the piano and playing cards.
Ina was a beautiful person inside and out. She was very gracious and friendly and will be deeply missed.
Surviving are a son, John Pace (Debbie), of Murrells Inlet, SC; a granddaughter, Heather Williams (Darren), of Gastonia, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Peyton Pruitt, of Gastonia, NC.
A private burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer, TN.
