Jack Armon Allee, Sedalia, went to meet the Lord Saturday, July 7, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Jack was born November 23, 1942, to William Armon and Eddyth Carol (Kesterson) Allee in California, Mo. He graduated from Stover High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 in Germany. He worked for a time at U.S. Coast and Geological Surveying, Williams Transfer and Storage and over 20 years with Viebrock Construction before retiring in 2002.
Jack served on the City Council while living in Otterville. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sedalia serving as a Deacon, Head Usher, and Greeter, which was his favorite job. He loved shaking everyone’s hand welcoming them and sharing a joke now and then. He could also be counted on to have life savers in his pockets, which most little people knew he carried.
On July 28, 1967, he married Mary (Thomas) Allee, who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Heather (Todd) Monks and Holly (Bill) Blackaby, his greatest pride and joy, his four grandchildren, Blake Allee-Lightfoot, Katie and Jackson Monks and Bella Blackaby, two brothers, Irvin (Jackie) Allee, Sedalia, and Glen (Mona) Allee, Otterville, three sisters, June Frontera, Dixie Rowan and Mae (Harvey) Meyer, Sedalia. Also surviving a sister-in-law, Ruth Allee and brother-in-laws, Wesley Shirley, Charlie (Pam) Thomas, Eddie (Cathy) Thomas, many nieces and nephews and a host of good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ray Allee and Paul Allee, and three sisters, Cleo Anderson, Fay Mullins and Joy Shirley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and good friend.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending their many activities and sporting events, and being able to see Blake graduate college in May. He enjoyed watching Royals baseball during winning times and still watched when losing. He was an avid Nascar fan and season ticket holder at Kansas Speedway, which he enjoyed attending with his brother, friends and as a last resort, Mary. He also enjoyed his morning coffee group at McDonalds solving the world problems (or not) after attending Cardiac Rehab. He loved his cardiac rehab nurses and made many friends over the 20+ years he attended.
Jack had a long battle with heart disease, but always used those hospital events to share his faith and humor with whoever came to visit, or he shared a room with. One of his favorite things to do was tell silly jokes and make others laugh.
The family on Jack’s behalf would like to extend a special note of appreciation to Dr. Kenneth Azan and his staff for almost 39 years of wonderful care and attention, Dr. Jerry Kennett, and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care for the past week. The family would also like to request all memorials to First Baptist Church of Sedalia.
Pallbearers are his nephews, Paul and David Meyer, Richard Young, Alan Allee, Randy and Melvin Mullins. Honorary pallbearers include Chad and
Tommy Thomas, Jerry Mullins, Jeff Allee, Adam Allee, Jim Woodall, Mike Smethers, Eldon Kreisel, Dave Floyd and Kim Birdsong.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services Wednesday, July 11 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Sedalia. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery, Otterville.
