Jacqueline Joan “Jody” Bingaman Brown, 85, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born January 26, 1932, in Cushing, OK, daughter of William Everett Bingaman and Berniece Julia Fisk Bingaman.

Jody grew up in Cushing, OK, and Abilene, KS, before moving to Kansas City, MO, from where she graduated high school. She earned a B.A. in Home Economics from the University of Kansas. She was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, and continued her membership with the KU Alumni Association and the Association of American University Women.

On September 12, 1954, in Sedalia, she married Morris L. Brown (Brownie).

She was a co-owner of WEB & Sons Inc., which consisted of Bing’s grocery stores and Best Western Motel.

She was a member of First Christian Church and was very active until her health failed. She belonged to the Christian Women’s Fellowship.  When her kids were young she was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the PEO Chapter LQ.

Jody was a fabulous cook; no one could make a pie as well as her. She grew a big garden and canned the produce each year. She enjoyed reading and playing Bridge. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by three daughters, Bonita Louise Anderson (Keith), of Bates City, MO, Tina Sue Logan (Jeff), of Coffeyville, KS, and Holly Ann Lenz (Randy), of Boonville; six grandchildren, Jadee, Jesse, Janel, Riley, Mitchel and Rachel; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Vernon H Bingaman.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.

Casket bearers will be Jeff Logan, Keith Anderson, Randy Lenz, Riley Anderson, Mitchel Lenz and Jesse Logan.

Honorary bearers will be Tom Munson, Dale Shull, Bill Turner, Mrs. Anders and Jimmy Martin.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Christian Church.
