Jacquelyn C. Stockwood, 81, of Sedalia, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born August 11, 1933, in St. Louis, the daughter of William C. and Cornelia Goodman Jones. On February 7, 1954, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in St. Louis, she married Dr. Robert C. Stockwood, who survives of the home. They met while attending the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was the blondest, tallest, and best-looking guy on campus. She knew he was the one and he was for 61 years.
Jackie graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis at age 16 and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia at age 19, always on the Dean’s List.
She was a founding member and past president of the Pettis County Medical Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the women’s auxiliary at Bothwell Regional Health Center, long-time member and past secretary of the Children’s Therapy Center Board of Directors, past member of the American Association of University Women, a member of Zeta Alpha, member and past president, Chapter

, P.E.O. Sisterhood, a member of Sorosis, a member of the Sedalia Country Club and co-chairman of the Ladies Luncheon and Auction in connection with the annual Therapy Center Golf Tournament.
She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and mahjong, and for many years she enjoyed the fun she had with her birthday club.
Jackie was a good friend to many, a terrific cook, patient, loving, kind, the best mother any child could ever want and the best wife any man could wish for. She was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She loved to travel and with her husband they went to Denmark, Australia, Thailand, Japan, and France among other places. She always had a bag packed and ready to go.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her three children, Julie Stockwood, and her husband, George Coopersmith, of Lenexa, KS, Robert L. Stockwood, of Sedalia, and James C. Stockwood, and his wife, Trudy Stockwood, of Lenexa, KS. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Christopher, David and his wife Robin, Emily and Robby Stockwood; and a brother, William D. Jones, and his family of Greensboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, Jerome Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Leora Bremer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Forever in our hearts and deeply and sadly missed. Life will never be the same without you, Mom.
