James Barton Horn, Sr., 81, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born April 24, 1934, in Sedalia, son of LeRoy and Della Richards Horn.
On July 4, 1985, in Topeka, KS, James was united in marriage to Glenda Berry, who survives of home.
He worked for the railroad and was self employed, doing odd jobs. He was a member of the Parkway Freewill Baptist Church.
James served honorably in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, helping people and loved animals.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Pam Harris, of Sedalia, Bob Horn, of Muskogee, OK, and Dennis Horn, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Lucke and Gerry Arnout.
He was preceded in death by a son, James B. Horn Jr.; a sister, Kathryn Hegger; and five brothers, Dwight, Virgil, Ralph, Jack and Eugene.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Talbott officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday.
