James Charles “J.C.” Braden, Sr., 88, of Sedalia, died Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born February 26, 1931, in Harrison, Arkansas.
On January 15, 1949, in Alpena, Arkansas, he married Wanda Lee Fullerton, who died August 13, 2013.
Mr. Braden served 21 years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the rank of Major. He later served seven years in the National Guard and was the Commanding Officer of the armory in Sedalia.
He worked as a teacher and school superintendent. James was a member of Parkview Christian Church and Be Forever Young. He enjoyed cookouts, watching tv, and “slow jog runs” at the State Fair Community College fitness track.
Surviving are two children, James Charles Braden, Jr, (Kathy), of Windsor, and Mark Braden, of Sedalia; two grandchildren, David Michael Braden and Robert Neil Paxton; and two great-grandchildren, William Neil Paxton and Elizabeth Carveth Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Heckart Funeral Home.
