After a brave year-long fight with cancer, James Page passed away on May 27, 2014.

He was born in Sedalia, Missouri on June 5, 1955.  After graduating from high school in Kansas City, he attended Oregon State University where he obtained a degree in forestry engineering.  He worked in forestry in Oregon and Montana.  From there, he moved to Alaska.  With a decline in forestry work, Jim went to work for the Alaska Railroad Corporation and after about 15 years, retired from the ARRC in 2012.  While working full time, he also started a bundled wood business in Alaska in 1991.  He was very focused in his business and was the biggest supplier of wood bundles in the state of Alaska until his illness.

Jim met his wife, Linda, while working in the Wasilla area.  They were best friends and hunting and working partners from 1993.  They were married in 2002.  Jim loved to be outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing but his main passion for recreation was hunting trips.  Jim and Linda took many trips which included Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and British Columbia as well to Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado.   They hunted in Alaska and Jim worked a short time as an assistant guide.  They enjoyed seeing new places and making new friends.  Jim was also a member of many hunting organizations and they enjoyed attending the dinners with auctions to help with the goals of each organization.

Jim’s wishes were to be buried in the Otterville, Missouri cemetery.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, in their home town of Wasilla, Alaska,  his father, Cleo Page of Overland Park, Kansas, his brother, Kendall Page of Kansas City, Missouri  and of several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Nebraska and Alaska.  He was preceded in death by his Mother, Donna Page.

Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Homan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.

Casket bearers will be Jerry Sanders, Jerry Page, Jimmy Page, Donald Homan, Alan Hazelrigg and Alvin Koeller.
