James Estill Cole, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at his home.
He was born June 10, 1926, in La Monte, son of James S. and Wealthy M. Christy Cole. On December 18, 1962, in Miami, OK, he married Helen J. Parks, who died January 2, 1996.
Mr. Cole was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on a destroyer. He worked as an experimental engineer for Davis Manufacturing. He enjoyed working with wrought iron, fishing, bowling and making things for people.
Surviving are a daughter, Carla S. Cole, of Sedalia; a granddaughter, Sara A. Mundy, of Burden, KS; two great-granddaughters, Sonja Wright and Leelah Fletcher, of Burden, KS; and a sister, Agnes “Muggs” Phillips, of Sedalia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James V. Cole; a daughter, Tanya C.M. Cole Mundy; four sisters, Rosemary Goss, Voncille Walje, Almira Bozarth and Lorene Huffman; and a brother, Loren “Buck” Cole.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
