James Lee McCurdy, 93, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born September 20, 1921, in Sedalia, son of Elmore and Lillian May McCurdy.
On October 11, 1942, he was united in marriage to Norma Lee Raw, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2014.
He was a 1939 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended the University of Missouri. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of First Christian Church in Sedalia.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Toni, of Corpus Christi, TX; and granddaughter, Paige Flynn, and her husband James, of Brooklyn, NY.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chad McMullin officiating.
Casket bearers will be James Flynn, Jim Mathewson, Virgil Tagtmeyer, Steve Bloess, Terri Howard and Jim Cooney.
Honorary bearers will be Phil Prater, Clif Kateman and Jack Hawkins.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
