James E. Hagston, Sr., 78, of Sedalia, formerly of Cole Camp, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Rest Haven Convalescent Center.
He was born November 18, 1942, near Cole Camp, a son of Louis and Corrine (Peterson) Hagston. On November 7, 1970, in Cole Camp, he married Rebecca Allen, who survives.
James was a 1960 graduate of Cole Camp High School. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed hunting, watching baseball and most of all, being a grandpa.
In addition to his wife, Becky, survivors include seven children, James Hagston, Jr. (Faith), Matthew Hagston, Jonathan Hagston (Jean), Benjamin Hagston, Misty Hagston, Jason Hagston and Samuel Hagston (Liz); a brother, Joe; a sister, Florence; 17 grandchildren, Savannah, Sierra, Michaela, Evan, Early, Star, Haley, Leo, Riley, Casey, Ethan, Eliza, Remington, Makayla, Cole, Jolyn and Lexi; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy and Fred; and a sister, Mary Ann.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home with Michael Closser officiating.
There will be no visitation.
A potluck dinner will be held in the Heckart Family Center immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
