Lois Jane Kelley, 74, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Kansas City Hospice House.
She was born May 15, 1947, in Sedalia, a daughter of Charles Franklin Hickam and Betty Jean (Franklin) Hickam. On October 16, 1965, in Sedalia, she married David Clark Kelley, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2004.
Jane was a 1965 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and attended State Fair Community College, earning a business degree.
She worked at Town and Country Shoe Factory, in the Pettis County Recorder of Deeds office, Pettis County Road and Bridge Department and was elected as Pettis County Treasurer, serving 12 years.
Jane was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she served on the Pastor/Parish Relations committee and was treasurer of the cemetery board. She was active in the Noonday Optimist Club, Women’s Democrat Club, Democrat Breakfast Club, Women of the Moose and NARVRE.
Jane enjoyed going to the lake cabin, camping, traveling and shopping. She loved spending time with her mother, Betty, and her grandson, Konner. Jane will be remembered as a kind-hearted, giving and loving person, and will be greatly missed.
Jane is survived by two daughters, Jenny Kelley (Karl Kerly), of Kansas City, and Nicki Kelley, of Sedalia; a grandson, Konner; her mother, Betty Hickam, of Sedalia; a brother, Ron Hickam (Pat), of Kingsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, David, she was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hickam; and a nephew, Ty Hickam.
There will be no visitation, however friends may sign the guest register and pay their respects between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home.
A private family funeral service will be held.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
