Jane Schwickrath

Jane Griffith Schwickrath, 80, of Sedalia, died on December 22, 2015, at home with family at her side.

She was born on February 1, 1935, in Sioux City, IA, to Ray and Reba Griffith.

She attended Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO and attended Drury College where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and made lifetime friendships. She graduated from Research Hospital radiology technology program in 1955. This is where she met Robert Schwickrath. She worked as an ARRT at Children’s Mercy Hospital and for Cardiologist Graham Asher in Kansas City for several years.

She married Robert Schwickrath on June 14, 1962, and they made it for 53 years. After marriage, they moved to Sedalia where she was a devoted wife and mother. She volunteered countless hours at her children’s schools, swim and soccer teams throughout their lives. She never missed a single meet or game and always loved the other kids as well.

She was a member of Sorosis. She immensely enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She had an amazing green thumb and grew Crotons over six feet tall. She had an unsurpassed love of animals. She loved to travel and adored the ocean. She spent many years enjoying the exercise and friendships she developed through water aerobics.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Mark Schwickrath, of Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Kristi Mogg and her husband Paul; two grandchildren, Katherine and Kyle Mogg, all of Tampa, FL; one brother, Ray C. Griffith (Susan), of Rock Hill, SC; one sister, Gail Lovell (Michael), of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces and nephews she loved and enjoyed so much.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Private family casting of her ashes will be in the spring off the coast of her favorite beach in Pass-A-Grille, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the new Sedalia Animal Shelter or Benton County Hospice, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
