Janice Cornwall, 92, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri.
Janice was a life-long resident of Sedalia, Missouri, graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, godly wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born January 30, 1930, to John O. McMurdo and Sarah Wallington McMurdo, the youngest daughter of seven siblings. Janice met her Prince Charming and married him five months later on March 25, 1949. She and James Cornwall shared 61 blessed years of marriage and had two children.
Janice was an active member of Sedalia Christian Center and was a dedicated teacher of God’s Holy Word. She and her husband attended Rhema Bible College in Oklahoma and started the Spirit of Life Fellowship Church in Sedalia. In addition, they once owned and operated the ice cream station in Sedalia. Janice loved fishing, family reunions, and garage sales. She will be fondly remembered for her wholesome, sweet spirit, positive disposition, and warm Midwestern charm.
Survivors include her son, Allen Cornwall; grandson, Josh Morris and his wife, Emma, of Warsaw; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Morris; brother, Jim McMurdo of Monroe City; dog, Louie, and cat, Angel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Cornwall; daughter, Cindy Morris and son-in-law, Steve; and granddaughter, Avia Meek.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Menges officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Sedalia Christian Center.
