Jeanette Johnson, 93, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born March 3, 1929, in Benton County, daughter of Roy Peace and Imo Peace Pfetcher.
On May 6, 1946, in Windsor, she married James Albert “Jim” Johnson, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2012.
Jeanette was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She opened the first state-licensed care home for handicapped children in the state of Missouri. She began Johnson Crib Care Facility in Kansas City and then moved to a larger facility in Lee’s Summit.
She was baptized in 1944 at Windsor Baptist Church. While living in the Kansas City area she belonged to Forest Avenue Baptist Church. In Sedalia, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Jeanette enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, and helping others. She was very much a people person.
Surviving are a son, Gary Johnson (Kim), of Knoxville, TN; four granddaughters, Toni Miller, Paula Miller, Jill Thomsen and Bonnie Kelly; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Miller and Brenda Kramer; a granddaughter, Leslie Miller; and four siblings, Edwin Peace, Jack Peace, Lila Fletcher and Kerry Peace.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit.
