Jerry Iuchs

Charles Gerald “Jerry” Iuchs, 90, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born June 12, 1929, in Overland, MO, a son of Charles Augustus and Sarah Ellen (Fitzgerald) Iuchs.

On May 11, 1952, in Sedalia, he married Dorothy Louise (Kirkpatrick).

Jerry was the owner of Sedalia Steel and Wire. He was a founding member of the Pettis County Fire Department and was the Civil Defense director for Sedalia. He was a licensed EMT and taught CPR and First Aid for the American Red Cross, of which he was a longtime board member. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Jerry liked to draw and paint, work on computers, and had a HAM radio license, number WB0HYX. He was a square dance caller and an Eagle Scout. He served in the National Guard.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of the home; three children, Jeri Lou Doak (Skip), of St. James, Nancy Hodge (Rick), of St. Louis, and Rodney Iuchs (Karen), of Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Sara Doak Beatty, Amy Doak Thompson, Garrick Hodge, Kelly Hodge Gatschet, Kathryn Hodge, Captain Timothy Iuchs, Christopher Iuchs and Senior Airman Jeremy Iuchs; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Kirk “Tommy” Iuchs on March 12, 1968; and a brother, Henry Leroy Iuchs.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019, at First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, with Rev. Jim Downing officiating.

Casket bearers will be Garrick Hodge, Timothy Iuchs, Christopher Iuchs, Jeremy Iuchs, Aaron Beatty, Trey Thompson and Andrew Gatschet.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.

Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
