Jerry Lee VanWinkle, 67, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
He was born July 23, 1953, in Sedalia, Missouri to Virginia VanWinkle and D.O. VanWinkle.
Jerry graduated from Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School in 1971 and earned an Associate’s degree in Agriculture at State Fair Community College in 1973. Jerry worked at the Flat Creek Inn for numerous years and was a life-long worker, cattle dealer, and livestock hauler at the Central Mo Sales Co (livestock market) in Sedalia. He also worked in Nebraska on a ranch for 11 months, 16 days, 12 hours and 10 minutes. Jerry loved visiting with people, going to cattle auctions, and buying and raising cattle. Jerry will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving are his life-long friend, Nancy Willig, of Sedalia; E.H., Cary, Jay, Cody and all his friends and workers throughout the years at the Central Mo Sales Co.; two half brothers, James Anderson III, of Seattle, WA and Dee VanWinkle Jr, of Chula Vista, CA; and several cousins and nieces.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Cary Brodersen, Carl Eckles, Craig Crystal, Cody Fowler, Jay Fowler, Dennis Gerken and Jim Evans.
Honorary bearers will be E.H. Fowler, Dwayne Wienberg, Bob Meyer, Rick Dillon, Donnie Smith, Donnie Hitaffer, Norman Alcorn and Ken Bunker.
There will be no visitation.
