In Loving Memory…
Joann Lucille Waters, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 4, 1929, in Pettis County, daughter of Clarence H. and Gladys V. Payne Williams. On June 5, 1949, in Sedalia, she married Joseph A. Waters, who preceded her in death on March 18, 2008.
Mrs. Waters was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church for 70 years, where she was active in the Salt and Light Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club, the Quilters’ Guild and Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary. She worked at Interstate Studio for 25 years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, quilting and music.
Surviving are four children: Pam Davidson (Jack), of Atlanta, GA, Tim Waters (Sharon), of St. Joseph, Mark Waters (Machelle), of Goddard, KS, and Roger Waters, of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren: Rachel Davidson Sulhoff, Julia Davidson Wright, Spencer Davidson, Jason Waters, Ben Waters, Sarah Waters, Daniel Waters, Isaac Waters, Micah Waters, Melody Waters and Grant Waters; four great-grandchildren: Andrew, Elizabeth, Hannah and Noelle Sulhoff; a sister, Peggy L. Curran, of Sedalia; and a brother, C.H. Williams, Jr. of Sedalia.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Chaney.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marlin Brown and the Rev. Jim West officiating.
Casket bearers will be Jason Waters, Daniel Waters, Isaac Waters, Spencer Davidson, Micah Waters and Grant Waters.
Honorary bearers will be the deacons of East Sedalia Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the East Sedalia Baptist Church demolition fund for the removal of the former sanctuary.
