John McFail, Jr.

John McFail, Jr., 84, of Houstonia, passed away Wednesday evening, February 14, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born October 18, 1939, in Sedalia, son of John Ives and Dora (Carver) McFail.

On July 3, 1965, at the Houstonia United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Wilma Jean (Charles) Vickrey.

John was a route salesman for Coca-Cola for over 35 years, retiring in 2002. He owned JWK Trucking Co. with his son, Ken.

John was a faithful member of Eldorado United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, yard work and going to church.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Wilma, of the home; a son, Kenneth Parker Vickrey (Roberta), of Knob Noster; a daughter, Connie Jean Kleinschmidt (J.R.), of La Monte; seven grandchildren, Rachel Rayburn, Keith Kleinschmidt, Adam Kleinschmidt, Steven Bell, Travis Bell, Matt Vickrey and Elizabeth Caldwell; and 16 great-grandchildren, Trevor, McKinley, Aidan, Everett, Charlie, Cara, Dirck, Bobby, Ethan, Parker, Sarah, Elsie, Hannah, Alina, Audric and Anabel.

He was preceded in death by a son, Carl William Vickrey (Marsha); a daughter, Carla Bell (Randy); a grandson, Russell Vickrey; four brothers, Glen, Jessie, Edgar and Thomas McFail; a half-brother, James Garrigus; and three half-sisters, Betty Hughes, Mitzie Gildersleeve and Rosie Carver.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2024, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Deb Galey officiating.

Casket bearers will be Steven Bell, Travis Bell, Keith Kleinschmidt, Adam Kleinschmidt, Matt Vickrey and Grant Caldwell.

Burial will be in Houstonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Eldorado United Methodist Church.
