John R. Borchers, 100, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
He was born March 20, 1921, in Sedalia, son of the late John Henry and Rosa (Ehlers) Borchers. On April 18, 1948, at Mount Hulda Lutheran Church, near Cole Camp, he was united in marriage to Irene K. Kullman, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2017.
He was a graduate of Cole Camp High School. He served his country honorably from 1942-1946 as a Medical Technician in the United States Army during World War II.
John was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia. He worked in the shipping department at Pittsburgh Corning for 33 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post #305 in Cole Camp. He enjoyed watching Cardinals and Chiefs games.
He is survived by a son, Larry Borchers, of Green Ridge; a daughter, Linda Mosier, of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Kyle Borchers (Jessica), of Sedalia, Kent Borchers (Lacie), of Independence, Melissa Wirth (Michael) and Wendy Mosier, all of Mesa, AZ; a special friend, Terry Dotson-Borchers, of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Paul Borchers.
A viewing will be held 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2022, at Heckart Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp, with full military honors.
