John Kay Simon

March 12, 1938 — April 19, 2025

Sedalia

John Kay Simon, 87, of Sedalia, MO, closed this chapter here on earth April 19, 2025. She battled this just like the stories of WWII and ultimately won over cancer in God’s arms. Kay’s story concluded at home with family and a few close friends just as she scripted her last days.

Kay’s story began March 12, 1938, in Ottawa, Il, daughter of Ralph H. Elsenwrath and Velma K. Stratton.

As her story had many twists and turns, Kay was preceded in death by father Ralph Elsenwrath, mother Velma Stratton, husband Donald Simon, first husband Gary Hartman, sister Mary Bradt, and grandson Stanley “Scott” Simon, II.

Kay left books with many unfinished chapters to be written by her survivors, three daughters, Debby Manley, of Sedalia, MO, Nancy (Dan) Pryor, of Concho, AZ, Valerie Ream, of Sedalia, MO; two sons, Micheal (Donna) Hartman, of Springfield, MO, and Stanley (Revia) Simon, of Hot Springs, AR; a brother, David Stratton, of Middleton, WI; she was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 29 ½ great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and two very dear friends, Terri Quick and Dianne Cook, who have been right by her side when she began a second chapter moving back home to Sedalia, and through the hardest days in this last chapter.
