John W. Hewett
John William Hewett, 69, of Sedalia, formerly of Marshall, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at his home.
He was born November 18, 1948, in Tallahassee, FL, son of Willie T. and Sarah (Barton) Hewett.
On March 17, 1989, in Rockwall, TX, he married Laura F. (Fowler).
Everybody called John a gentle giant. He loved his family and enjoyed bringing joy to children by playing Santa Claus. He enjoyed fishing and camping. His passion was custom cars. John was a Christian and was a member of Parkview Christian Church. He worked at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, of the home; four children, Chris Hewett (Melanie), of Alvarado, TX, Stacey Pruitt (Eric), of Ft. Worth, TX, Jenny Woltje (Cody), of Wetmore, KS, and Heather Hewett (Mike Shields), of Carrollton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dottie Orth, of Richardson, TX.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Barbara, J.B. and Ray; and a brother-in-law, Robert.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, at Parkview Christian Church, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating. A dinner will follow the service.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
