Johnnie Lewis “Bud” Vinson, Jr., 92, of Pilot Grove, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
He was born December 6, 1930, in Sedalia, a son of the late John Lewis Vinson, Sr. and Bessie Virginia (Adair) Vinson.
In his younger years, Bud owned and operated Vinson’s Grocery Store in Lawnsdale Addition. Later in life, he was a farmer.
He enjoyed running fox hounds and playing guitar and fiddle music.
Bud is survived by two children, Dennis Vinson (Melinda), of Sedalia, and Rodney Vinson, of Pilot Grove; a brother, Russell Vinson (Mary); a sister, Dorcas Wolfe (Larry), of Blue Springs; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Vinson; and three sisters, Daisy Huffman, Georgia Pope and Shirley Vansell.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Vinson, Rodney Vinson, Kealin Vinson, Bo Vinson and Paul Leman.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home.
