In Loving Memory
Johnny Mack Grimes, 68, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born February 1, 1945, in the State of California, son of Cecil and Mary Helen Cunningham Grimes. On March 13, 1970, in Sedalia, he married Carole J. Smith, who survives of the home.
Mr. Grimes retired from the Sedalia Democrat after 44 years, where he was the press room foreman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center. He enjoyed keeping his yard nice and visiting Gulf Shores. He was the proud owner of a 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette. He loved his cats, Scooter, Maddie and Gabby. John will be remembered as a caring person, always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbor. He had the ability to do or fix anything.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Grimes, Lori Kramer and Kim Nusser, all of Sedalia; four grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Grimes, and his wife, Ruth, of California, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Celebration Center, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter or the church.
