Joseph L. Colbert

Joseph Levon Colbert, 64, of Otterville, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 6, 1958, in Warsaw, son of Joseph Colbert and Charlotte (McGinnis) Paxton.

On November 1, 1997, in Otterville, he was joined in marriage to Rhonda (Benedict) Lemens.

Joe worked 38 years as a Union painter with Painter’s District Council 3 and was a member of the International Painters Union.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Otterville. He actively shared his faith with others and was a true “fisher of men.” He gave his heart helping anyone in need.

Joe was an adventurous outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an excellent pencil artist and shared his love for the Lord through writing. He was a dedicated family man and an amazing Papa.

Surviving are his wife, Rhonda, of the home; four children, Damian Lemens (Amanda), Desirae Nau (Josh), Daylan Hammond (Jessica), all of Smithton, and Destiny Colbert, of Otterville; his mother, Charlotte Paxton, of Sedalia; seven grandchildren, Delaney, Madison, Faithlynn, Leah, Wyatt, Meelah and Quinn; two sisters, Becci Erfurth, of Smithton, and Shelia Colbert, of Sedalia; and a brother, Robbie Paxton, of Sedalia.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Russ Slocum officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
