Juanita Mae Hood, 88, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born June 13, 1926, in Jefferson City, daughter of Snode Eloid and Margie Reta Gosney Percival.
On May 13, 1946, in Sedalia, she married Wayne Lee Hood, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1992.
She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1944. Following high school she went to work for Sedalia Bank and Trust, starting as a clerk and working her way up to comptroller and vice president, retiring in 1988 after 44 years. She lived in the Sedalia community for most of her life and was a member of Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Altrusa, and Business Professional Women, where she was past president. She also volunteered with many other service organizations.
She is survived by a sister, Norma Jean Percival Green, of Ft. Worth, TX; a brother, Donald E. Percival, of Tallahassee, FL; three nephews, David L. Green, Mitchell Percival and Douglas Percival.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Delores Percival; and a niece, Connie Green Bersano.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Brubaker officiating.
Casket bearers will be David Green, Brian Bersano, Doug Percival, Benjamin Brubaker, Caleb Brubaker and Myron McNeal.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Holem, Jack and Betty Blackwell, Wally Davis, Becky Brubaker, Frances Summers, Pat Knight and Judi Ebers.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home, with a reception to follow from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Heckart Family Center.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Salvation Army, American Cancer Society or the new Sedalia Animal Shelter.
