Judith Carolyn “Judy” Wilken, 79, of Oak Grove, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born January 18, 1943, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of the late Barney N. and Doris A. (Smith) McMillian. On November 28, 1964, in Sedalia, she married Robert Wayne Wilken who preceded her in death on January 29, 2014.
Judy was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She attended State Fair Community College and University of Missouri receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
She worked as a bank teller and in the accounting department at Town & Country Shoes. She then went to work at Pittsburgh-Corning where she was the purchasing manager.
Judy was an accomplished quilter and tole painter. She and her sister worked hard to make things to sell at SantaCaliGon Days in Independence. Judy used her earnings to buy Christmas gifts for her loved ones rather than spending it on herself.
She loved her younger brother and sister very much and was generous with her time and gifts.
Survivors include her sister, Debra Bailey, and her husband, Stephen, and nephew, John Joseph Vento, all of Blue Springs; and numerous cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Barney McMillian.
Funeral service will be at noon, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Heckart Funeral Home.
Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
