Kennard D. McKinney

Kennard Davis McKinney, 77, of Belton, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Carnegie Village Rehab Center in Belton.

He was born September 8, 1947, in Sedalia, son of Orie and Beulah (Davis) McKinney.

On December 6, 1969, in Sedalia, he married Cynthia Shull.

Kennard attended Central Missouri State College to obtain a B.S. in business administration, graduating in 1969. He began working for Arthur Anderson & Co in Chicago as an auditor. He then began employment at Intercraft Industries Corporation in Chicago, where he was director of accounting and manager of technical services. Upon moving to Sedalia, he was involved in the development of real estate as controller of the Maplewood/Brooking Park area, as well as Brooking Park Nursing Home. In 1982, he partnered with Foriester, McKinney & Associates in Columbia, where he was owner and treasurer. His last employment was with Olathe Medical Center, where he was director of treasury services, retiring in 2013.

Kennard enjoyed spending time with his family and going on dates with his wife. He was a loving father and husband, always working hard to provide for his family. He will be remembered for his warm smile, and his honesty and integrity. 

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Cynthia, survivors include six children: Michelle Zuber, of Raymore, Heather McKinney, of Raymore, Shawn McKinney (Renae), of Belton, Shannon McKinney, of Belton, Cassie McKinney, of Raymore, and Jamie Allen (Michael Dixon), of Calera, AL; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, David McKinney (Pat), of Sedalia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie DeHaven (Kenneth).

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Don Butterfield officiating. 

Memorials are suggested to Cancer Perks, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
