Larry Richard McRoy, 81, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born August 30, 1936, in Herrin, IL, son of Vernell Edward “Mac” McRoy and Hilda (Woodruff) McRoy, who preceded him in death.

On August 4, 1956, in Jackson, MI, he was married to Frances Gayle Rifkin, who survives of the home.

Larry was a graduate of Jackson Business University in Jackson, MI, and completed continuing education at Michigan State University, University of Michigan and University of Missouri. He was the operations manager of Jackson National Bank in Jackson, MI, Vice President of Citizens National Bank of Chillicothe, MO, chairman of the board of Sedalia Computer Services, and president of Alibi Inn of Sedalia, MO, before retiring.

He was a 50-year member of the Sedalia Rotary Club, serving in the past as president. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and the first Outstanding Rotarian of the Year. Larry was named Sedalia/West-Central Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association Restaurateur of the Year in 1993. He was a charter board member of Sedalia Junior Achievement, served on the board of First State Savings and Loan, and was past board president of the Sedalia Little League. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 125, Sedalia Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturers Association of Pettis County, and the Sedalia Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and cards.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Frances, survivors include two children, Rick McRoy and his wife, Luci, and Cathy Coble and her husband, Steve, all of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Chad McRoy and his wife, Crystal, of Lee’s Summit, Chase McRoy and his wife, Liza, of Grandview, Jessica Coble, of Sedalia, and Lindsey Coble, of Sedalia; a brother, Ed McRoy and his wife, Carol, of Carthage; and a sister, Judy Maronic and her husband, Jim, of Burr Ridge, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad McRoy, Chase McRoy, Steve Coble, Mike Amburgey, Jim Maronic and Ron Maronic.

Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
