Lawayne Paul “Joe” Bredehoeft

Lawayne Paul “Joe” Bredehoeft of Sedalia, MO, passed away October 2, 2021, at his home.

Lawayne was born April 29, 1934 in the Sweet Springs area to Arnold and Frieda Alpers Bredehoeft. Lawayne was married April 23, 1955 to Phyllis Vogelsmeier Bredehoeft. They enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage and four children were born to them.

Lawayne was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. He served as head usher and on the board of trustees for many years. Lawayne was a home builder, building many homes in Sedalia and the surrounding area.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; their sons, Anthony Bredehoeft of Morgan Hill, CA, Bradley Bredehoeft of Emma, MO, Kevin Bredehoeft of Green Ridge, MO; one brother, Wallace Bredehoeft of Sweet Springs, MO; two sisters, Dorothy Norfleet of Houstonia, MO, and Janice Howard of California, MO; nine grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Murry; parents; brothers, Eldred Bredehoeft, Homer Bredehoeft and Edgar Bredehoeft; sisters, Frances Evert, Wilma Driver and Elva Bredehoeft.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Pastor Alan Mueller officiating.

Casket bearers will be David Bredehoeft, Tracy Bredehoeft, Randy Bredehoeft, Robert Norfleet, Stanley Bredehoeft and Rick Goans.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Crossroads Hospice.
