Lela Fern Byrd, 89, of Warsaw, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Warsaw Health and Rehab.
She was born December 26, 1925, in Red Oak, Iowa, daughter of Noble and Coma L. Simmons Buffon.
On March 19, 1943, in Sedalia, she married Wayne H. Byrd, who died May 30, 2013.
She worked at Lamy’s and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lincoln. Lela enjoyed playing the piano, fishing, gardening and flowers.
She is survived by four children: Carolyn Miller, David Byrd (Glenda), and Barbara Pile, all of Sedalia, and Anita Parish, of Warsaw; son-in-law, Dale Kortum, of Westchester, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Byrd; a daughter, Janet Kortum; one brother and four sisters.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Jeff Page officiating.
