In Loving Memory
Leno Belle Nelson, 87, of Green Ridge, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born March 30, 1926, in Springfield, MO, daughter of Lawrence Oliver and Ova Young Myers. On January 27, 1961, in Kansas City, MO, she was married to Donald A. Nelson, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2009.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. She was a business lady, working for several companies over the years. She loved taking care of her grandsons, watching birds, feeding her hummingbirds, tending her flower garden and seeking out any way to help others.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Ann Hays, of Belton; a son, Richard Lee Nelson, and his wife, Dr. Deanna, of Green Ridge; two grandsons, Robbie and Reed; a sister, Freda Pew, and her husband, Dale, of Longmont, CO; a special niece, Margaret Vertz, and her husband, John, of Springfield; two nieces and four nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Burch, Hazel Essary and Kathleen Myers; and four brothers, Clay, Virgil, Lewis and Glen “Buck.”
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Sisney officiating.
Casket bearers will be Robbie Nelson, Reed Nelson, Steve Starke, David Starke, Scott Myers and Dick Duggan.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Noonday Optimist Children’s Fund.
