Lillian Mae Newton, 79, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born May 19, 1935, in Pyrmont, MO, daughter of William Henry “Willie” and Kathryn Emma “Katie” Heismeyer Monsees. On January 5, 1953, in Harrison, AR, she married Clarence M. Newton, who survives.
Lillian worked for Lamy’s Manufacturing, Jensen’s and Prairie Town Products before retiring. She was a member of the Jolly Elders. She enjoyed going to auctions and rummage sales, tending her flowers and garden, reading, going to plays and loving on her grandbabies. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four children, Thomas Newton, and wife, Helen, of Blackwater, Cindy Newton, of Boonville, Mae Bruce, and husband Charlie, of Jefferson City, and Kay Newton, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Christopher Newton, Katie Kammerich, Jesse Zuniga, Xavier Zuniga, Mindy Laughlin and Monique Caldwell; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Jett, of Stover; a brother, Martin Monsees, of Excelsior Springs; and extended family and friends whom she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Monsees; and two brothers, Melvin and Leonard Monsees.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Tounzen officiating.
Casket bearers will be Chris Newton, Jesse Zuniga, Kenny House, John Fulton, Chris Kammerich and Butch Knox.
Honorary bearers will be Katie Kammerich, Jocelyne Newton, Michele Newton, Robert Knox, Junior Jeffries and Wes Anderson.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
