Lloyd Edward Purl, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 21, 1929, in Sedalia, son of George and Elvie Moffett Purl. On April 18, 1981, in San Bernardino, CA, he married Darlene A. Corum, who survives of the home.
Mr. Purl worked the Amoco station as the “full-service guy.” He served thirteen years in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 2591. He enjoyed fishing and watching westerns. He was a Baptist.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons; four daughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, LaVonne and Barbara; and a brother, J.D.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sheldon Purl; a daughter, Rhonda Hall; his parents; and a brother, George Purl.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with the Rev. Dan Hankins officiating.
Casket bearers will be William Bly, Michael Walker, Joseph Bartlett, Jeremiah Casdorph, Hunter Robb and Chandler Bartlett.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
