In Loving Memory…
Lois Reva Eichholz, 84, of Smithton, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.
She was born November 18, 1928, in Versailles, daughter of Frank and Revo Johnson Bremer. On August 24, 1949, in Smithton, she married Clarence Edward Eichholz, who preceded her in death on June 20, 1980.
Mrs. Eichholz had worked for Town and Country Shoes and Cash Hardware in her younger years and retired from Smithton School, where she was the high school principal’s secretary. She was a member of Smithton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had also been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Otterville. She was very active in the Smithton Senior Center.
Lois loved to support Smithton School athletics. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed playing cards and was a talented seamstress.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Abington (Mike), of Warrensburg; two grandchildren, Jeremy Abington (Amy), of Lee’s Summit, and Casey Abington (Jeff Nickerson), of Maryville; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Nathan Abington; a brother, Gene Bremer (Lodell), of Kearney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Eichholz; two brothers, Frank J. Bremer and Hal Bremer; and a sister, Pearl Ruth Kahrs.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Veale officiating.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Abington, Casey Abington, Chris DeMoss, Craig DeMoss, Zachary Thomas, Erin Thomas, Josh Fields and Britton Fields.
Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
